I got someone coming over to look at my GP but it won't start It's been sitting for about a month so I tried to jump it, only to find out i'm not getting any fuel pressure I'm gonna assume i've got some frozen gas What can I do to get this bitch started quick!? Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 put it inside a warm building if possible to see if its gas line freeze Quote
slick Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 When you turn the key in the ignition, can you even hear the fuel pump whirring? If its not the above, extension cords and a hair dryer will work. Quote
rudefyet Posted December 9, 2005 Author Report Posted December 9, 2005 the fuel pump does kick on Quote
Dan94Z34 Posted December 10, 2005 Report Posted December 10, 2005 Sounds like frozen fuel lines to me, if the pump is enguaging. Quote
rudefyet Posted December 11, 2005 Author Report Posted December 11, 2005 meh...it's still below freezing...looks like tomorrow moring i'm gonna hook up the power inverter and a blow dryer and go at it Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 Go get some dry gas, or a bottle of HEET (in the yellow bottle) and those will both remove any water that might have gotten in there, and possible froze a line somewhere. Quote
rudefyet Posted December 11, 2005 Author Report Posted December 11, 2005 i tried some "Iso-HEET" in the red bottle...that close enough? Quote
sl3196 Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 i tried some "Iso-HEET" in the red bottle...that close enough? Yep. I think that stuff has something more then just the HEET stuff. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 Honestly Ive never looked at the difference between the two. One would think there close, but Ive always used the yellow bottle. Dont really think it matters though. Quote
pwmin Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 iirc, the "iso" part stands for isopropyl alcohol, whereas the other stuff has just one type. Quote
Prospeeder Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 Fuel line antifreeze is a prevenitive, it keeps the lines from freezing, it doesnt undo a frozen line Quote
rudefyet Posted December 11, 2005 Author Report Posted December 11, 2005 i'm aware of that...but once it unfreezes, it won't freeze up again Quote
Prospeeder Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 well, hows the gas anti freze suppose to get to the frozen parts after they do thaw, if ur not turning on the pump all the time it wont be able to circulate around, and it will just freeze again if you miss your chance Quote
Turbo231 Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 well, hows the gas anti freze suppose to get to the frozen parts after they do thaw, if ur not turning on the pump all the time it wont be able to circulate around, and it will just freeze again if you miss your chance Thats no biggie...cycle the pump a few times or let it run a minute...that fuel pump is recirculating quite a bit of fuel, it wouldn't take it long to get around the system.
