A 98 Z34 Monte Carlo (L36) ran a faster 0-60 time than a 97 Z34 Monte Carlo (LQ1). The LQ1 did have the lead by the 1/4 mile though, by about a tenth IIRC.

I'm actually surprised by the performance of the L27 in my Bonneville. Ran a 16.2 (same as some LQ1 W's I've seen) in the 1/4 bone stock. :) Vs the Regal at 16.8 bone stock. lol

you can not bolt a GN manifold to the L27 or the L36. they are completely different motors. the are even different then the FWD 88-91 3800 before the series 1 came out. staying OBD 1 is not the best in my eyes. you are better off going OBD 2 and using a power tuner so you do not have to keep getting a chip. I have seen alot of power come out of the 3800 turbo intercooled cars.

best setup for turbo in the frist gen car is the L36 with the 4t65E using the monte carlo engine harness and 98+ PCM+
