W_bodylover Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 What would be the best muffler to go with? i wanted 2 flowmaster 40 series mufflers with a lumina Z-34 set up, (if i get a lumina). i want a deep sound that does not sounds ricey, or something that sounds like a 3.1 with no resonator or mufflers. i want a somewhat deep sound at idle and a really deep sound when i step on the gas. does anyone with a 3.1 have any clips of there cars with flowmasters on them? thanks for any info. corning_d3 Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 I run a set of Super 40's, 2.5" pipe, no resonator and a hollow converter. It has a REALLY deep idle, and a good deep, raspy sound under half acceleration. WOT.....all i can hear is a deep/mid scream.. No fartcan sound here. EDIT: I have a '96 Monte w/ a 3100, BTW Quote
webbs Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 i have a super 40 on my 95 CS and it has a deep tone to it and it does scream with half throttle. Ill try to get some sound clips up soon for ya Quote
pwmin Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 im all for magnaflows but i dont have any sound clips. maybe this weekend ill take some (LQ1 though). just gotta figure out how to get them from my phone onto here. Quote
TeeJay3800 Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 I have a 3.1 with Flowmaster 40-series and a straight-pipe in place of the cat. Has a VERY deep idle, a nice loud growl at medium RPM, and a moderate scream from 3500 and above. Best sounding motor short of an LT1 IMO. 8) Quote
W_bodylover Posted December 9, 2005 Author Report Posted December 9, 2005 But the question still stands, can i keep the stock pipes off of a Z-34 and still get the sound i'm looking for just changing the mufflers or would i have to change the pipes and mufflers as well? Quote
J Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 yes, pm me i have 2 40 series BRAND NEW IN THE BOX for sale Quote
pwmin Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 dont buy anything from him. forget those slowmasters anyway. the more you open it up, the raspier it will probably get anyway, so no, you dont need to change your pipes Quote
chadz34 Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 If you don't mind the rasp, then open er' up! Quote
J Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 dont buy anything from him. forget those slowmasters anyway. are you very flexible? Quote
fastbird232 Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 are you very flexible? Might come in handy if he has to go fuck himself. Quote
pwmin Posted December 10, 2005 Report Posted December 10, 2005 i wish. not sure what you mean. just to clear it up if i wasnt, i was joking, well half. i like magnaslows better than slowmasters, but go ahead. i love the sound of shanes z with the borla system, but borla is frickin expensive. i would prob go with borla over mf. 19Cutlass94 Posted December 10, 2005 Report Posted December 10, 2005 I love my Dynomax. Its sounds absolutly awesome, especiall above 4K. It just screams. Not ricey at all. But whats cool is that around 45-50 mph when the car is in OD. if I step into it, while still keeping it in OD, all my mirrors will vibrate pretty good from the resonance. Plus the straight through design is also great. I think Im one of the few people that would say Dynomax. Quote
