Crazy K Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 I going to try putting some silicone on the weatherstripping itself. I'm just concerned swiping my coat against it, and having a spot on my coat. Wear leather. I think it would actually be good for it! make it nice and supple. Be sparing in the areas your are worried about, of course. And for those of you who like running the car a long time, how about automatic seat heaters? Besides the biggest thing i'd worry about leaving a running car unattended for so long for would be if something went wrong. You don't want to come back and find a low oil light and the temp light on! -just food for thought. Quote

If I come out one morning and my 100k mile engine is locked up tight, well damn... new car for me. Quote
Crazy K Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Sure seems like a waste to me! If my 205,000 special died on me, I'd be pissed. It's still my POS. If you want to know more lol http://www.w-body.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36540 Quote
Kaline Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 I've had a weird problem on my '90 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme coupe. Twice this winter, on chilly mornings, the LATCH MECHANISM has frozen on my car. This will either cause the door to not latch, or not open again until it thaws once it does latch. Anyone had this problem? Did lubricating the latch take care of it? What type of lube did you use? EDIT: I got home from work today and the doors opened just fine. I sprayed an aerosol lock lubricant on the lock mechanisms and sprayed aerosol silicone spray on a rag to wipe down the door and window seals. I'll give an update after more COLD weather! Quote
helrazer83 Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 When it happens to me, I use a set of those halogen shop lights. Set 'em about 6-8 inches from the door and it'll melt...just takes awhile. Pretty safe method though. EDIT: I'm talking about when my doors freeze shut...not when my latches freeze up. That doesn't happen to me very often. Quote
