Bake82
If you are thinking of doing a 5 speed swap into your w-body, you need all of this. (List thanks to Josh aka Turbosedan) - HM-282 transaxle can come from J, L, N, W-body, Fiero, etc. (gearing and FDR varies however). if the 282 comes from a HO Quad-4 or Turbo 2.0L car then you'll need to swap on a V6 bellhousing. - V6 282 flywheel (get it resurfaced). '90 flywheel is preffered (bigger) - new clutch kit with throwout bearing (again, '90 is preferred, more surface area) W-body specific parts: - shifter - shifter cables - 5-speed center console - clutch pedal - brake pedal (save yourself a headache and just cut your existing brake pedal shorter) - clutch master cylinder - clutch slave (release) cylinder - hydraulic line that runs between the master cylinder and slave cylinder - clutch fluid reservoir - some DOT-3 brake fluid for the clutch hydraulic system - intermediate shaft with bracket - both axles - trans mount - 3.1/5-speed memcal (i have one sitting here FS; can't use it anymore since i'm turbo'd) - 3 quarts of GM Syncromesh (trans uses just over 2 quarts) - VSS and pigtail (could possibly just reuse that stuff from your 4T60, i can't remember). i have a few spare 282 VSS if you need one. that's about it. it's all bolt-in besides modifying the hole in the firewall for the clutch master cylinder, but that is easy with a Dremel w/18" flexshaft, and a tungsten carbide cutter. then you just need a hole saw to drill a hole in the floorpan for the shifter cables (again, very easy with no motor or trans in the car). i really think the 5-speed conversion is ALOT easier than most people think. Hope that helps you out if you're doing that swap.
ghettoimage
does it matter the year of tranny or all years work
Bake82
it has to be one bolted to a V6 car so the bellhousing is the same.

chadz34
No, it has to be a V6 tranny to a V6 engine. You can't put a 4 cylinder Cavalier 5-speed tranny in a 3.4 DOHC V6. You can use the 3.1L V6 5-speed tranny. They aren't too hard to find.
