qmtgp Posted December 15, 2005 Author Report Posted December 15, 2005 umm the spark plugs are a few moths old, havnt had the chance to change the wires yet. i cut the cat off. IAC? what is that? i cant think of what that is right now. Quote
Garrett Powered Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 get it and all parts for the motor from the dealership. I got an IAC motor a while back and it said assembled in Mexico. I decided to put an original one back in. I did the same thing with my TPS. You know what I am doing now is; since I just put on all new sensors and crap, I took off the throttle body and scrubbed off all the carbon and polished up some of the aluminum parts so they match the rest of the motor. I also took off the EGR and cleaning and inspecting the tube for cracks. Just take the TB apart and take a toothbrush and carb cleaner to it.... but wear rubber gloves. I actually took a drill with steel wool balled up on the end and spun it around with carb cleaner inside where the IAC motorseats and it took ALL carbon off. Then I put a thin film of anti-seize to the inside there, and the piston head. When you clean the TB, open the throttle plate and polish the throttle bore. I used 400 grit wet/dry sand paper and carb cleaner and polished off all the carbon and now the thing is blingin. We'll see later today how good everything runs. Quote
Garrett Powered Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 polished IAC housing: before/after: next to my spare TB Quote
qmtgp Posted December 17, 2005 Author Report Posted December 17, 2005 hey thanks man, yeah i'll try some of that if i can get my car home. i ran out of gas yesterday and i put $16 worth of gas in it and it still wouldnt start , it turned over untill i put gas in it now it just does nothing and i killed the battery trying to start it Quote
Garrett Powered Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 you fried your fuel pump... ...everytime you run out of fuel, it smokes the pump. when you get a new one make sure it is a lifetime warranty. thats what I got and it has been used 5 times. Quote
qmtgp Posted December 19, 2005 Author Report Posted December 19, 2005 grrrr.... thats just great i dont have money to replace it. does anyone know where i can find a real cheap one. Quote

Do what now? I've run out of gas a couple of times, or had times when my car was jacked up and gas wasn't hitting the fuel pump, and it didn't kill it. Quote
qmtgp Posted December 19, 2005 Author Report Posted December 19, 2005 yeah well i kept starting it cause i was cold and i had to wait for my girlfriend , yeah i tried to jump it but it wouldnt go. you guys think thats it cause i dont want to spend the money and do all the work if i dont have to. Quote
Garrett Powered Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 you should inspect the fuel sender for melted wires and make sure the sock wont fall off in the tank. Quote
Prospeeder Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 well the gas acts as a way to cool the fuel pump, thats why you dont wanna get it super low, that could overheat the pump or cause exsess wear Quote
qmtgp Posted December 20, 2005 Author Report Posted December 20, 2005 yeah makes since, i now have to find a way to my friends dads house cause he's got a heated garage. Quote
