CutlassSL91 Posted December 4, 2005 Report Posted December 4, 2005 Ok, i know this sounds petty, but my door chimes are really annoying. It is that high pithed beeping sound. Is there another chime module from another car that has a deeper sound? The lowest I have heard was from a '90 LeSabre, but it does not sound when headlights are left on. Any sugestions as to what model car i should get one from and is it even possible? Quote
White93z34 Posted December 4, 2005 Report Posted December 4, 2005 differnt w-bodys have differnt modules, i know mine dings rather then a never ending beep. Quote
Prospeeder Posted December 4, 2005 Report Posted December 4, 2005 The Grand prix ones are ok, They just ding ding ding ding, Not super high pitch, but not really deep either, just dont get a grand am one, oh dear god there louder than fuck and annoying as hell Quote
3pt1lumina Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 mine stopped working. I couldn't be happier Quote
rudefyet Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 my sonoma is a constant really loud, beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep Quote
psychopyro31106 Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 anybody know where you can get cool aftermarket ones? Quote
slick Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 mine stopped working. I couldn't be happier Yep. Every once in a while, it will work, but only for a few seconds. Quote
Regal_GS_1989 Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 Bah. Pull one out of an old k car. BEEEEP. BEEEEEP. BEEEEP. PLEASE FASTEN YOUR SEATBELT! Quote
CutlassSL91 Posted December 5, 2005 Author Report Posted December 5, 2005 I think the old oldsmobile ninety eights used to do that too Quote
fastbird232 Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 Grand Prix ones are the best IMO. They're not overly annoying, but they'll let you know pretty quick if your door is still open. But I hate it when I need my lights on (and the car is off) and the chime gets really fast and stupid. Quote
digitaloutsider Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 I think all first-gen W's have the same dinger. Quote
pwmin Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 at least we dont have the annoying turn signal beep that my 86 riv had Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 I think all first-gen W's have the same dinger. :withstupid: All except the Luminas. I think some of them have one that beeps instead of "ding ding ding". Ever heard one from an 80's Subaru? It almost sounds cute, it's a high pitched "ding dink, ding dink". Quote
3pt1lumina Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 IIRC, the 90 Lumina's have a different chime than the 91-94's. I remember my mom's 93 had a different one, and so did my friend's 94. I think even my neighbors 91 had a different chime than my 90. Maybe 90-92 were the same... I cant remember. Quote
GP1138 Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 The aforementioned Colt one is a loud BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Kinda like a Ranger's, but more high pitched. Quote
SigEpCutlass Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 can someone show me a picture of what it looks like & where I can find it? I was going to replace mine b/c it only works half of the time. Thanks Quote
Prospeeder Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 I like the 80's Bronco IIs dinger, its like, i duno, its a ding ding, but its like, Wum wum wum and fades on and off, not a solid ding Quote
CutlassSL91 Posted December 6, 2005 Author Report Posted December 6, 2005 so would one from a '90 lesabre work? Quote
5speedz34 Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 I know the one in my first '92 didn't work but the one in this one does. The one in the Cutlass doesn't either. Does the chime module hold that little yellow box with all the other features?(auto door locks etc.?) Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 Yellow box? On the ones I've seen, the chime module is either green (lower-end, like from my 89) or translucent white. The auto door locks are built into the chime module on 93+. Quote
Regal_GS_1989 Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 On my Regal, its underneith the kick panel on the passenger side. I know that mine is a brown box plugged into the fuseblock behind the kick pannel Quote

I know the Cutlass one's after a 1/2 mile it's supposed to beep if you have the turn signal on. Quote
