PCGUY112887
I can't find anything from seafoam that is actually labled "Top Engine Cleaner", but this is as close as I could find is it the same stuff i'm looking for? (I think so since the front talks about using through vaccume lines). And what would be the best/easiest line to suck this stuff through? I know most people say the brake booster line... but i'm not exactelly sure where that would be on my 96 3100 . Thanks.
pwmin
It says carbon cleaner, thats the top engine part. also does other things. i wouldnt go through the booster line. not sure where on a 3100. search and you should be able to find appropriate lines. the booster goes from the intake arm to the brake booster which the master cylinder is bolted to. digitaloutsider
"Top Engine Cleaner" is GM's trademarked product name, you won't see it on other stuff.
PCGUY112887
Ah that's why I coulden't find it by that name. i wouldnt go through the booster line. not sure where on a 3100. search and you should be able to find appropriate lines. pwmin
eh, mine has a line that comes in the same place as the booster. find a smaller vac line if you can that goes into the upper plenum. the booster is a little big but it would do i guess. GutlessSupreme
JUST make sure you squeeze the line shut a bit and let it SLOWLY suck up the contents of the can.. thats a big line and WILL suck the can dry in about 2 seconds if you don't control it, and you don't want that. I don't mean like drop by drop but don't let it choke on it either.

GP1138
When I do the booster line, I grab a funnel and stick it in the end of the line. Works great!
john99gtp
mmmm, smokey. (it was alot worse, but it was a cloudy day so its hard to see) i used the booster line, and did what john said, just stick a funnel in, and pour SLOWLY! slowly suck in 3/4, let it stall, wait 20 minutes fire it up, suck in the rest, and try to get it to stall again, let it soak for 20-30. start it up, make sure it can run without holding the throttle (heh) and go for a drive. I heard somewhere to drive a bit aggressive to clean it out well. that hardest part by far is trying to hold the funnel, trying to hold the can, and trying to keep the RPMs up, but it is doable. just for the love of god, dont let it suck the whole can in 2 seconds
Supreme Cutlass
My RPM's went UP when I did it...
THe_DeTAiL3R
Yeah I took mine out in the country for a drive after putting it in... 1. To avoid cops! 2. So I could lay the hammer down, get all that crap out of the engine.

PCGUY112887
Ok lets make sure I found the right line, facing the engine from the front it's to the left of the brake fluid reservoir, right behind the tranny dipstick, and the hose goes from this large black circle looking thing (brake booster is bolted to it) over to the upper intake manifold. Just pull it off from the little elbow thing it's on and turn it over (it's bent) and put in a funnel and pour slow?
pwmin
right hose, but suck it out of the bottle if you can
AWeb80
no, use a funnel and pour into the funnel... come on Paul....
pwmin
wtf is that adam? edit: i c ur other thread but i dont get how it applies i sucked BG44K directly out of the can with the smaller vac line that tees off the intake adapter arm where the booster hose is attached
