Lou305sr
Im asking for a friend of mine with a 96 Grand Am.. his ignition cuts off and cant drive his car because of the antitheft system with the ignition and the PCM... Instead of going to the dealer and paying buku dollars for a new cylinder and keys is there any way to trouble shoot the system? He says he read some where how to rig the ignition with a remote starter to make the pcm think all is well and start the car.... I dont think should be the only course of action... Or is it? Thanks in advanced.
DiscoStudd
StEvEzAsYcHo is the guy you should PM. He recently had a similar problem on his GF's Achieva and solved it by installing a transponder bypass used for remote start systems... Spoon
Does his key have a resistor pelet in it? If so all you need is a resistor to bypass the security.

The N-Bodies used a transponder key. The W-Body VATS system is, indeed, easy to bypass.
