Someone has a 4T60/440-T4 rebuild kit forsale. Will it work for my application? I wouldnt mind learning to rebuild one as well. :D

"it is genuine GM and no longer available from them. it includes all gaskets, seals, sealing rings, clutches(frictions AND steels)."

Thanks

You could risk changing the fluid but that won't fix the overdrive, but might make the remaining tranmission work for a while.

Here's a link, which should give a few details about your tranmission,

it would be the 94 3.4 w-body tranmission

Tranmission model 4t60e code 4PBW final drive ratio 3.06

as referenced:

http://dtcc.cz28.com/transmission/index.htm

it looks like for you to get the exact model tranmission with the right ratios, it would have to be a 94, 95, or 96 model car, with a 3.4 and the transmission tag(described in the link) has to have 4PBW or 5PBW or 6PBW (BUT make sure your tag has one of those three codes, if it doesn't, let us know)

so that means... a 95-96 Lumina or Monte Carlo, or 94-96 Cutlass Supreme, Grand Prix, or Regal(which I don't think got this motor) with a 3.4 should have your transmission.

Can someone please verify this? thanks Ken

Yur car has a 4t60-E it is a redesign for the 4t60/440T-4 and is different, so sorry. probably not.

However you might check JCWhitney. Or does anyone else have a good idea? (I need one for a 4t60 for a 91 CS.. where did you see that kit at? or does anyone have recommendations for me?)

After viewing that link above, will the the 1CWW, 2CWW/2C4W, 3CWW models work (years 1991-1993)? they have the same specs as the 4PBW except the stall speed is 2095 instead of 2060. I just want to maximize my search when looking for a donor vehicle. Also I have seen some sites that show the 4T60-E lableled as "4T60-E" and as "4T60E". Is there a difference? Thanks.

z28clone, the 91 - 93 trannies are similiar, but I don't know if they will swap. I'm not certain if the 95 or 96 ones will either, but I suspect they will A good junkyard would have a Hollander Interchange manual and they would know for certain.

HEY CAN ANYONE ELSE VERIFY THE TRANS/YEAR INTERCHANGABILITY?

As for the rebuild kit, it might work... but It would be a job! Me myself, i want to try to rebuild mine... Mines a 91 CS convertable with a 3.1 motor... but I'm a fanatic... plus its a PITA to install and remove the tranny... but maybe you have an engine hoist and garage and not a freezer like me...
