pwmin Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 1)okay, so my sway bar is making noise in the front. i lubed the right side bushings (greaseable energy suspension poly ones) and the noise went away. it came back after driving through snow and stuff and i was wondering if there was some sort of grease that would stay better preferably using the existing zerk instead of pulling them out. 2)my right side coilover will start making a banging noise all of the sudden when i lift it or the spring turns. i also have to have the spring just right or it will creak. the problem is it doesnt look like its rubbing and i cant figure out why it makes the clunking noise. im not suspension illiterate, i just cant figure it out for some reason. some fresh ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanx paul edit: well i found why it was clunking: the sway bar inner bracket broke. this still doesnt explain why sometimes it will start clunking and creaking and by turning the coil it stops since somtimes the coil will not move when it happens Quote
J Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 my coilovers make a groaning sound also. It's just the way it is, i have made sure the spring is in the seat about 10 times and even greased it, which helped a tiny bit, but a week later it was back. I even put sound deadner in my trunk to try and cover the C/O noise to no avail Quote
pwmin Posted November 30, 2005 Author Report Posted November 30, 2005 does anyone have an answer for me? can you get the ES grease to put in a grease gun? 1)okay, so my sway bar is making noise in the front. i lubed the right side bushings (greaseable energy suspension poly ones) and the noise went away. it came back after driving through snow and stuff and i was wondering if there was some sort of grease that would stay better preferably using the existing zerk instead of pulling them out. pwmin Posted January 28, 2006 Author Report Posted January 28, 2006 i feel like such an idiot. even though i got a mm larger on the inner bushings, they were never making noise the whole time! :cuss: come to find out, it was the freakin air tube. the bolt was missing that holds it to the head and the clamp was turned towards the sidewall. all that searching. someone else was like, well, it sounds like something hitting the firewall, so i took the plenum off, found that loose, tightened it up and voila, no more noise. took all of 20 minutes to fix the damn thing and ive spent hours trying to fix a cause that wasnt even legitamite. 95oldsVan Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 I posted this in another topic. This is for those that want to use the marine grease. You can use Marine grease and even stores like advance auto or auto bones usually sell a tube. Can pop the cap off and smear it on or use it in a grease gun. Best to wear latex gloves when handling this stuff. Btw good find of the cause of the problem! Quote
z34_nut Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 I suggest using a gun personally for this. and yes, make sure its marine grease! its made for the conditions you described. Usuelly its used on boat trailer wheel bearings because as your driving parts get used and warm up *edspcially wheels bearings* and when you go through water, or dip the whole trailer in the water, its cools off rapidly. the grease contracts, and then poof, your grease is gone. It really sucks bad in trailers tho, mostly because when the grease contracts, its sucks in the dirty water into the bearings... Quote
