Torque Convertor Woes?

Ok help me out. If this is a repost, just lemme know, couldn't find it on search.

Cutlass Supreme 3t60, 3.1MPFI

If I try to drive the car in any gear besides [D], the car will not "coast" at any speed. I could be going 24MPH and if I let off the gas, the car slows down as though it is stuck in a lower gear. If i hit the gas, I usually get a nice clunk.... In [D] its alright, so its no biggie, just curious....

I also know practically nothing about transmissions, so if this is rediculous, just be nice

try to remove the 4 pin connector going to the transmission, that will disable the lock-up featutre of the torque converter. If this fixes it you need a TCC solenoid.

You may also need to adjust/replace your TV cable

It's not just because you ARE in a lower gear, is it? Might be something wrong with it, but I'd probably go to a trans shop and just have someone take it for a spin with you so you can see if there is actually anything going on there.

Jcrow: Thats a really good idea. I know on my Ciera, its pretty accesable. How's about on a Supreme?

Justin: I understand what you are saying. I may just go to a trans shop. It deff isn't bc I'm in a lower gear. If its in [D] the car will coast and accelerate downhill. It WILL NOT do either if I individual put it in a lower gear.

Side note, I noticed this when I would keep it in 2nd around 18-21MPH going uphill to stop that weird slip. I read its a factory defect somewhere? Any idea on that either.

Whatever, its not the biggest deal. Everything is perfect if I'm in [D].
