K8JWT
Was wondering are the 1994 Pontiac GP's with the 3.1L engine prone to oil leaks around the valve covers? Mine had a leaking valve cover, replaced the gasket and all was good till recently I have noticed it is starting to leak again. Gasket used was a FELPRO blue rubber type that fit into the grooves & ridges on the head surface. Leaking area appears to be right above where the exhaust heat shield sets close to the valve cover only blocked by a metal coolant line. Any ideas? ? ? White93z34
i think, the 1994 3100s had a recall about the valve covers leaking, are yours plastic or metal? if they are plastic i believe the recall hasen't been done. but i'm not too sure about all that. i'm sure someone knows better. Prospeeder
are you tightening them too hard? It could damage the seal if you over tighten the bolts
K8JWT
They are the plastic valve covers so how would I go about getting them replaced under the recall? I am not the original owner? The nuts were torqued down to specs givien in my HAYNES manual.
White93z34
since the car is over 10 years old now and its not a safety recall its null and void as far as i can figgure. your best bet is probably a junkyard for the proper metal ones. THe_DeTAiL3R
You could try putting some RTV on the gaskets to seal it up, might work..
19Cutlass94
Best bet would be just to get the Al. ones with some new gaskets and call it a day. Those plastic valve covers are shitty.
