snowboard_pro6
Hey guys in new here I just bought a 1991 Lumina Euro 2Door last weekend. It’s my first car and I wanna get this car to perform a lot more then it does. So far all I’ve done is put in a K&N filter. I was looking at putting a new thermo in so i can use the Hypertech Thermo Master Computer Chip. I live in Canada in an area that can range from 40degrees Celsius in the summer to -20degrees Celsius in the winter would my car be fine with a 180 degree thermo year round? digitaloutsider
DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM HYPERTECH. Their chips are the biggest joke ever for the 60º family. Spend your money on the best-performing chip for the 60º's over at http://60v6store.com/ Sadly, there's not much you can do to make your car fast aside from boost. 3.1's are slower than piss, and nothing this side of a turbo is going to fix that. I'd save up for another car if I wanted power. You're sure as hell not getting it out of an LHO.
Prospeeder
Bah, cooler Thermostat isnt gonna do much anyway, mabye if you were boosted, and if it gets pretty cold there, it might decrease your heaters efficentcy, not worth it really
THe_DeTAiL3R
The only advantage to having a 180* in a 3.1 is it might keep the temp a bit lower in the summer, like stop-and-go traffic, that is all. If the one you have is fine I really wouldn't bother changing it (unless you decide on flushing your coolant). Check the FAQ section on "V6 mods for noobs" (or whatever it's called)

Supreme Cutlass
There's one kit from nitrous oxide systems that should work well, but it specifically says in the instructions DO NOT INSTALL AN AFTERMARKET CHIP with it. digitaloutsider
What's wrong with the UDP? I think the chip, dogbones, and UDP would be a good start.
THe_DeTAiL3R
Nitrous.. 3.1.. oh god.. Well this is a 3100, but still high 14's (with some other mods) isn't bad at all.... http://www.w-body.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31844 I'm thinking with a proper setup an otherwise stock 3.1 should run low 16s before blowing up... Why do people still bash Hypertech.. i use Hypertech comptuesr and t-stats. no problems they are super good imo.. just b/c 1 car did a test with all those chips dosnt mean you will have the same results.. just look how differently the 3.4dohc behaves in each car. its a totaly temperamental and will differ from each cars currnet tune.
