White93z34 Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 over the past few days my ABS light would sometimes come on when i first start the car, i turn the car off, and turn it back on, no more ABS light, now today it came on and it will not go off, and as a result i have no ABS, i'd like to remedy this problem asap, and to do so pulling the ABS codes would be a nice start. LukeZ34 Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 TechII Scanner. I don't think there's any DIY way of obtaining ABS Codes unfortunatly. Quote
GP1138 Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 It's probably a Wheel Speed Sensor. Those love to fail. Quote
White93z34 Posted December 1, 2005 Author Report Posted December 1, 2005 okay, now do i NEED a tech I/II scanner to do this, or is there an equiverlant scanner that could work? Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 You can get ABS codes off the ALDL. I set up a config that lets me get it with EFILive4. You'll need a serial ALDL cable to use it though. Quote
White93z34 Posted December 2, 2005 Author Report Posted December 2, 2005 alright i like the sounds of that, where can i get EFI live 4? i should have no problem constructing the ALDL cable Quote
pwmin Posted December 2, 2005 Report Posted December 2, 2005 a lot of competent scanners can do that, but its cheaper in the long run to do the other option obv. Quote
White93z34 Posted December 11, 2005 Author Report Posted December 11, 2005 well looks like i don't need it now, my abs sorta fixed itself last night when i was playing with some of teh relays or whatever near that positive post, so i'm happy. Quote
birdman Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 well ive got a scanner that will do abs just in case it acts up again. Quote
99RegalGS Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 I was going to say it might be a relay, as a bad wheel speed sensor won't trip the light untill you start moving. My Regal had a sticking relay about a year ago, same thing was happening, just happened to tap on the relay and haven't had a problem since. Quote
Crazy K Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 hmm good point! my 95 CS just started this crap with the abs light on from when it starts. however, my brothers abs light turns on, but was apparently due to a worn alternator. But it turns on now maybe once a week when you start, shut it off and restart and it usaually goes away. time to inspect these relays on both the CS's Quote
