godofthunder
OK I wanna know something, I was talking to this guy yesterday about my car, who has worked on cars for a while, in his own time. Hed buy one, fix, then sell, keeping a few GMs for himself He said there was the 4L60-E. This was the rear wheel drive version of our trannies. Its basicly the same, but in a RWD case. Then, he was saying that this is comparable to the HydroMatic 700 or 400 or something like that Jon
Robby1870
Yeah thats what I always thought. 4L60E is RWD version of yours, and the 4L60E's andcestors were the TH-400 and and 700-R4 ( I think that is right) Robby
ismellrealbad
would those go into the earlier F-bodies with the 3.1?
Robby1870
Im pretty sure the 4L60E did. Dont know about 700-R4. TH-400 was used in old muscle cars. They also used TH-350, a less beefier version of the TH-400. That TH-400 was damn-near unbreakable. Robby
Sam96SL
What is an "LSD"?.....(humor me) the 700-R4 was a version of the TH-400 but with overdrive........if memory serves me correctly.
Robby1870
Limited Slip Differential. Yeah Im pretty sure your right about the 700-R4, I always have a hard time remembering that. Robby
