Navybass Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 I notice alot of you giving people the advise to get rid of the cat and put a straight pipe in it's place. My question is, how do you people get around the emissions testing in your state? I understand that some states don't require emissions testing for cars over a certain age, but those states are few. What do you do, put it on just for the test then take it off again? Quote
White93z34 Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 in PA emissions depends on what county you live in, i have to have all the equipment in place, but it dosen't have to work, thats how i get away with a gutted out cat on the camaro, however the countys in the state that you can get away with that in are few. dalejw3 Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 Us up here in Michigan have it good, no emissions testing at all. Quote

Euro Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 the only way i know of getting around IL emissions is either telling the state your car isn't road worthy(they give you a timed extension though) or tell em your car's an antique..and is only driven X amount of miles each year(has to be verified though) it sucks i know...i have to have a cat/resonator on my car probably in order to pass.. Pabz Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 What is emmision testing? I don't know I'm in Canada Quote
Canada Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 Iowa doesn't have bad air.....all the corn turns the three big bad emissions (CO, HC, and NOx) into good things (N2, H20, and CO2) magically. Quote
AWeb80 Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 hey canada, You go to ISU? I've been to Des Moines before. Quote
patgizz Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 in my county in ohio - i think 8 counties get tested - you either make it pass, build a 25+ year old vehicle, or own a business and have your commercial truck plates be 10k or higher no cats on any of my work trucks. the luminas i always replaced with catco ones unless my test was more than a year away, then i just stuck a pipe in till the time came to get tested. 1990lumina Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 What is emmision testing? I don't know I'm in Canada My RX-7 has straight in place of two catalytic converters...only one left and it should probably be removed as well... Who knows, might put on the full Racing Beat cat back exhaust system w/ header, etc. Quote

Here as long as it passed the safety inspection it is fine....even then you need to have it inspected if bought out of province I think??? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway judging by some of the shit I've seen - you don't need an annual inspection lol....and NO emissions I wish there WAS a safety yearly...that wopuld get some of those unsafe cars off the road!! But I vote no for emissions testing lol Quote
supreme_style21 Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 We don't have safety or emmisions testing and I don't see any 'unsafe' cars on the road here. I dunno whats wrong with the rest of the states. Quote
Prospeeder Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 in my state, or area, its not required to have an emmisions, but you do not need one after, the cars 15 years or 20 years old, after that you can do what ever, thats how it is here Quote

I guess the emissions kinds filters out some of the old shitty cars that would need a safety anyways... Quote
Darksyde Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 I get out of emissions testing by A. Living in western NY B. owning a vehicle 95 or later Our emissions test is a visual check of components. So hollow cat's....or cat;s with str8 pipe ran through them are legal. Quote
