Navybass
I was reving my car with the transmission in park and the engine was smooth up to 4000 rpm, then it started to get rough and sounded like it was skipping or something (really don't know how to describe it). Does the computer limit the no load high rev limit on the 1994 3100 engine?
terryk2003
i'm pretty sure it does...i know my '97 3100 has a rev limiter...and i don't see why yours wouldnt as well...
supreme_style21
Yes it does. Without it in gear, it should limit it at 3500 IIRC.
1990lumina
I'm pretty sure it limits at 4000rpm in park. In neutral it will hit the fuel cut around 6000rpm??? At least that's what my Lumina does w/ 3.1L MPFI
Navybass
OK, thank you all. That's good to know that there's nothing wrong with the car. The reason I was reving it high was to hear the low rumble of the new mufflers. I put a new cat back exhaust system on her. My friend owns an auto repair shop and he manufactured me a 2 1/2" system. We used Turbo mufflers and chrome twin round exhaust tips on her. This system sounds killer.
1990lumina
Take a video of it for all of us to hear !!
Navybass
Take a video of it for all of us to hear !! Will do. The nice thing is that it has a great low end rumble when at idle, it's not obnoxiously loud. When driving around town it sounds killer, low rumble. When you stomp on the gas it stays at about the same decible range. Sort of like the 60's and 70's muscle cars. I never thought a little V6 could sound so mean.
