Actually, I think it was narrowed there to clear the EGR. It's a lot closer to the bar on the DOHC than the 3.1's EGR is.

Where do you get those? Do they help alot? Do they just bolt on basicly, or they must be welded?

I got mine off a Cutlass 'Vert in a junkyard. Yes it helps. If you bounce back and forth coming out of a driveway, you won't after the bar. It makes large curves much easier to steer around. I notice I'm not muscling the wheel as much around curves, I don't have to use two hands as much.

 

They also bolt on. I put mine on in the junkyard parking lot. :lol: Just take off the strut tower caps and just put the bar in their place.

ALmost looks like one could be easily fabbed up from a set of strut tower plates and some square tube..
