gp90se Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 I got 36mpg on my last trip with my 3.1 mpfi buick My g/fs camry....omfg she has gotten 36! :shock: take that import cars Quote
Brian P Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 I fill up an average of 6 times per month, and every tank I will get over 300 miles, and I calculate it out everytime and falls between 21-23mpg going 75+ mph hwy and the rest is city, about half and half mix. 3400 gets about 28-30 on the hwy. My old 3100 did a little better on the highway up to 32mpg, but was lower in mixed city/hwy (usually flat 20mpg) Quote
nebojsa_o Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 Well, I get about 420km to 470km when the little orange LOW FUEL light decides to turn on. At that point I consider it empty, although I know it has a little more left in there, I just don't know how much, and I don't want to run out downtown or somewhere like that. Most of my driving is in city, the only part that's not city is the circle drive for about 5km or so to work, and 5km back, so 10km a day on highway, the rest is all city stop and go. And I don't even drive all that nicely all the time. I like to take off kind of fast. The wierdest thing I noticed was that when I was doing all those 0-60 test with my car, that was the gas tank that gave me the highest number (470km). Quote

I don't drive the living piss out of it, but I take it up to 3000+RPM at times when I want to get the bitch moving. I think that the 3100 is very efficient throughout it's powerband, whereas a larger or smaller engine might waste more gas with a heavy foot. If you have a 3100 and a DIC, just for kicks drive in OD and then in D (3rd) as long as you aren't going too fast you probably woun't notice very much decrease in MPG. Quote
Supreme Cutlass Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 I got 36mpg on my last trip with my 3.1 mpfi buick My grand prix with the same motor would only get 30 highway. Was it all downhill? Quote
gp90se Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 90 -> 84 -> 87 -> 287 ->95 up hill, down hill, foward, backward, left, right, and everywhere in between, about 75mph Quote
Euro Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 I got 36mpg on my last trip with my 3.1 mpfi buick My grand prix with the same motor would only get 30 highway. Was it all downhill? i got 36-37mpg on my trip from IL to the eastern side of MI this summer to the W meet now around town(granted i work like .8 mles from work) plus my drive to school im averaging like 17-20mpg...kinda crappy, but its needs a tuneup Quote
Chaos Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 I just got 27mpg on my trip this past weekend. MA - CT and back. 150 each way on the highway, plus misc. driving around town in between. This was even with my bf driving some of the time who is heavier on the gas pedal than I am. Best mileage I've ever gotten from my car. Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 have gotten 34 with my 3100 Got 32 with my mom's '97 GP GT 3800 My dad got 35 with the Quad4...usually don't drive that car slow Quote
jb88ci Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 I've only had my Monte for a month but I find I get about 400km to a tank, sometimes under, sometimes over, dependin how much city or hiway i do. I did two test runs to work from absolute full tank and fill again at a known distance using hiway and then city. I got 24 mpg on the hiway run and 20mpg on the city run. I think the hiway run was faulty as i may not have been totally topped up when i started. Quote
ns87 Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 I've never gotten better than about 23/24 city or highway.....me thinks my car is old Quote
Ramma2 Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 I've got a 3100 with 190k miles on there. I still average about 340 miles a tank, and this is 70 miles each day in 50% stop and go traffic. I hit over 400 miles on a tank once, after new plugs, wires, and filters. Quote
Rocketman Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Replacing the O2 sensor will do wonders if its original. They are only rated for 60-90k miles. Quote
JakeMetz63 Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Around 20 mpg city, I can get close to 400 miles out of a tank on highway Quote
99RegalGS Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 I've gotten 33mpg out of my Regal (3800). That day IIRC I went 410 miles before the low fuel light went on so I filled it up. Still had 2 gallons left in the tank. 8) 27mpg is the average for my Regal though. The Cutlass (LQ1) used to get 27mpg on with highway driving and 24 with freeway driving. Quote
supreme_style21 Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 I got 36mpg on my last trip with my 3.1 mpfi buick My grand prix with the same motor would only get 30 highway. Was it all downhill? Its not that unbelieveable. Highway, I see an average of 32-34 MPG at 65mph @ 110,000 miles. City sucks... I typically see 16mpg. Mixed, I do not know.. She's either driven around town on a tank, or long highway trips with full tanks. Quote
