chadz34
I was wondering what these W-body motors get for gas mileage? Are they all close like 19/21? My 3.4 gets about 310 km to a full tank, if I drive it normally.
5speedz34
19/21 sounds about right. Your motor is still pretty new and low milage so that sounds right.
chadz34
Wouldn't the engine only get better with age to a certain extent? When it's broken in though?
cutlass1991
I usually get around 200 miles to the tank, and that is after new plugs, wires, fuel filter, O2 sensor, pcv, top end cleaner... if I drive all highway I will be able to just barely squeeze 300 miles out. Â Are you serious? Â My 3100 would get over 300 miles/tank EVERY tank. I would hit usually just about 350 in the summer time. I got over 400 countless times on roadtrips. Â Then again, I guess we are speaking 3.4DOHC but it shouldn't make *that* much of a difference.

chadz34
The 3.4's are bad on gas for the size of engine. My mom's 96' Blazer 4300 Vortec gets better mileage. Plus when you put the 3.4 in the high revs it likes you'll be filling up soon after.
terryk2003
best i've gotten outta my 3100 is 22mpg and that was my last fillup...i usually get around 19...i do get about 320 miles to a tank though....

Plus when you put the 3.4 in the high revs it likes you'll be filling up soon after.  Ive noticed that my mileage is the same if i go hard (not talking redlining the engine). I normally keep my revs below 2200rpm and have noticed no difference if i floor it off the line to 4500 or if i take it easy. It just takes longer to get from point a to b under 2200 rpm  Except when it trips the egr
Prospeeder
My 3.1 Turbo gets about 20/30, we got an average of 24mpg over a 1200 miles trip, In big cities, Highways, Free ways at 85mph and Pulling huge hills going over mountain passes, passing people, id say it does pretty damn well! When I give'r, I look at the gas gauge it seems to be in the same spot and then I'll look at it like 2 minutes later and I lost a noticeable amount of fuel. My DOHC likes the high RPM, likes the gas there too. Still get decent mileage when I drive it civilized (not going over 4000 rpm.)
Prospeeder
well what usually happens is these cars will stay on full for ever then suddenly just drop the gauge like a rock to the real fuel location

At least not every tank, unless it's MOSTLY highway driving, with very little stop-and-go.  I get about 200-350miles (320-560km) all city/all highway  I suppose I could get 400miles/tank (640km) if I drove in a straight line on level road going 60mph the whole time.... (my DIC says I can do it )
sl3196
My old cutty (3100) Always got 300-400 miles a tank depending on the driving.

1990lumina
I get 20-21mpg/31mpg city/hwy 3.1L at 91,000miles (147,000km) Â In the city I am lucky to squeeze 400km out of a tank. On the highway I have no problem getting 600km to a tank...
93CutlassSupreme
i get 20 mpg, half city and half highway driving.   not great imo   3.1 Multiport btw
herb427sc
I got 30 mpg on a trip with a 92 SE B4U (3.4/5 speed). Usually normal driving around 22/24. Â The 93 SE B4U (3.4/4T60e)that I have now gets 19/22. Â As far as the 4.3 pigs in the Sonoma/S10's, the best I ever got 18 mpg. (1 2 door Blazer, 1 extended cab pickup and 3 ZR2's). Turbo231
My 93 SE B4U LQ1 gets an average rural/urban driving of 23.4 MPG. My best is 28.6 MPG at all highway driving. Â While it's always enjoyable to hear how far you get on a tank, it's a very rough number. I could fill my tank at 200 miles...or 300...or 350...of course, running the tank down can be hard on the fuel pump as it likes to sit in gas to keep cool. White93z34
for the most part i've gotten about 300 miles a tank, and if i do all highway driving i can get 26 or so mpg.
gp90se
I got 36mpg on my last trip with my 3.1 mpfi buick  My grand prix with the same motor would only get 30 highway.
Ned Flanders
I get better gas mileage on mid-grade but I'll be danged if I'm going to spend that much more money. I figure in the 3,1 Regal I get 300 a tank.
birdman
i know i got 28 mpg on a hundred mile trip there and back at 50-70mph
Regal_GS_1989
I have managed to pull about 41 MPG (canadian gallon) on my last road trip with my 3.1 GS. When i want to calculate MPG, i always fill my tank right to the top, not just when the pump stops. Because i find that all of the gas pumps vary. On some, i can only get in an extra 2$ after it stops, and others i have managed to get in an extra 10$. This way, i know exactly how much fuel was used
excelsior
My Grand PRix w/ the 3100 did between 24-27 mpg. My SHO does between 21-25 mpg. My g/fs camry....omfg she has gotten 36!
