black_z34
after a week of collecting parts, loosing parts and finding more parts i got my 97 intake swaped on. it wasnt really hard but i had to back to the wreckers 3 times for more parts. the car definately has a bit more on the top end and i dont see no loss out of the hole. should i get the car tuned now? it has a full 3" exhaust now with flowmaster muffs, fenderwall intake was also put in with the manfold and it has a superchip. im pretty happy with the power but would tunning find more? mike
pwmin
if you already have the superchip i wouldnt worry. you could have ben make you a chip
black_z34
i just wonder if the superchip is made on a stock car and now mine isnt. it must be flowing a bit more air with the manifold and exhaust and intake so i just wonder if it might now be on the lean side. is ben a chip guy? OldSkoolGP
Call Ben. Now you need top end fuel. I did the swap and I took it too Ben, and all he ended up doing was adding fuel.
Vegeta
The superchip isn't tuned for anything sadly. Its just some added spark which also, doesn't really do anything. Gotta love companies that make claims. How far are you from indiana? Id really like to get my hands on a nearly stock motor with the intake swapped on. I have a chip I made for someone else using that intake (aside from josh) but I honestly don't recall the results on that. Definetly needs more fuel up top though at the same time, it needs less fuel overall. Basically, the stock chip runs it pig rich. The curve needs to be changed...that would be the easiest way to explain it.
black_z34
hi veg im in canada so i cant come down and see you. so even with my chip you think im still rich not lean? do i need more fuel on the top end? i want to make sure my car is tuned good because i chalenged kevwood to a race because im going to be in his area and i want to see how fast his car realy is on the street. my friend said i should get a oxygen reading on a dyno and that would help you tune it is that what you need? mike
gp90se
Go buy an ALDL cable and a cheap laptop. you can collect all the data your engine ECU see's and it can be tuned off that
Vegeta
A datascan would help me tune it for normal driving, which in turn keeps it consistant at WOT. A dyno sheet would help with the wideband readout to adjust the power enrichment table.
