Found the problem pic 2

Found the problem pic 3

This is how I fixed it

94 3100

I started my car this weekend and went on a family trip.....and it idled high.....like 1500-1800......

So, I went to pull the codes and I have no "B" slot....only an "A"....What the heck.

well i figured i'd pull the battery cable for an hour or so and see if that fixes it.....(couldn't remember the idle re-learn)

NO fixxy.....

So I said what the heck and just drove it....

a 7 hr trip one way, and a 7 hr trip back and it ran great...except for crappy fuel milage (22mpg at 80mph)...and it still idles high...

I got home and had time to tinker around....and found out that the EGR Tube that is in the intake right behind the throttle body is loose...

I would move it and the idle would jump around...HIGH, Low, HIGH, Low.....so i found the problem

....how do i fix this....

I havn't had time to look at it since it isn't my daily driver i'll look at it this weekend....

loose where...at the egr? i cant remember if theres a seal that helps hold it in place or not. take the 10mm nut and the 2 10mm bolts off and take it off maybe. make sure you have gaskets though. maybe im missing the point

The EGR in the valve covers is ok.....its the EGR tube that dumps it into the intake RIGHT behind the Throttle body....

I'll look at it on Turkey day....as I keep the car at my rents house and i'm 25 minutes away...

Just wondering if anyone knew if there is supposed to be a rubber thing holding the tube in the plenum or something

I just went out and looked again, and besides from the "ports" that the EGR bolts onto that go to the intake, the only other thing attached to it are the couple wires that go to the TB

It is behind the throttle body...about an inch or so....in the top of the intake plenum.....that is where the PCV tube is.

Allright, I see the little tube your talking about. Its like a really small tube right (Diameter wise) I believe that just snaps on. Theres no clips on mine or anything.

hhrmm....mine is loose then....cause when i'd wiggle it, the idle would jump around cause more air would get in there.....

and I could hear it hissing too.

there should be a little rubber gasket thing on that hose, i had the same thing happen to mine. just one day that damn rubber gasket was gone, and caused my car to idle like that also. and if you need a pic let me know ill go take one and post it for you.

i fixed it with the spare PCV hose i had sitting at my house at the time, so i just swapped out the hoses. other than that i bet you could get the little rubber gasket at a parts store or something.
