anewall Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 Ok... I have a '91 Grand Prix with a 3.1. It's been hard starting, rough idling, and progressively worse gas mileage. Not to mention the smell of raw fuel, and black smoke when it kicks over. I traced the problem (hopefully) to the Fuel Pressure Regulator valve. I scored one at the junk yard, but had to use a pinch bar to pop the fuel rail (with the injectors attached) out of the donor car once it all been unbolted because it was so stubbornly stuck. I had hopefully thought that the injectors had been settled in because of the rubber O-rings and that's why is was difficult. Does anyone have any tips for taking the fuel rail out and installing it? I'm afraid that after I take mine apart I won't be able to force the rail back in if it took so much leverage to get it out. I wondered about leaving the injector rails in the engine, and spreading them a little to get the Pressure Regulator out, but I obviously don't want to break anything. Any tips would help, my car needs it!! Thanks Quote
patgizz Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 they always take some prying but go in much easier than they come out Quote
GPRACER Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 use new o-rings when you re-install, make sure everything is clean and coat the o-rings with vaseline or trans assembly gel. Quote
