john99gtp
this is on the gtp..... so i was changing my TSTAT today, cause im sick of the car not even passing 130* for a 25 minute drive (its drilled) and i noticed this http://www.jbarbieri.net/gtp/problem/ Is that supposed to be like that? its right near the TB (in front, as in front of car (to the left from the angle i shot it at)) and behind the valve covers. It looks like something is supposed to cover it up. it looks like, oh noes, a vacuum leak. doesnt vacuum leak == extra air == possible extra kr? if so, i think i found one of the problems lemme know what you guys think thanks john
LukeZ34
That looks like the actuator that controls the boost bypass valve (right above that). That's just the bleeder port on it, which is why there's the remants of the foam on it, as it's meant to be open to the atmosphere. The wastegate actuator on the TGP has a similar setup if you've ever looked at it. It has the one port that's open to the atmosphere (that had a foam filter on it from the factory) which is how the WG actuator bleeds the boost off. sl3196
Luke is right I believe. Mine has that same port.

pwmin
you can see the remnants of the foam filter. its just a vent

pwmin
how much kr you getting? its not false kr is it?
john99gtp
5-8* most of it partial, when im actually at WOT for a bit, it goes down to 3-5 and adam, with these mods i should not have KR. I dont even have as small of a pulley as most people
pwmin
i didnt have my riv for long and i never had any false kr, but could the hard mounts cause some false kr like the dp hitting the sway bar? try tgp plugs instead of the autolites, that might help. yeah you def shouldnt have any with those mods or maybe 1-2. i had 3-4 with my riv sometimes, but that wasnt enough to bother me. i had tgp plugs, dp, 2.5" exhaust, a 3.25 pulley, 180 stat and thats it. skalor
How much timing are you seeing commanded by the PCM?? If you are seeing more than 20* then that's way too much timing. I would expect you to be able to run ~17-18* and be KR free.
john99gtp
17 at WOT (its supposed to be 16.5, which is in the PCM, but my gauge doesnt read half numbers) so im gonna say
skalor
That is odd that you still have the much KR. When I had my GTX I had a 3.4", 3" DP(no cat), SLP catback, SLP intake, AL605s, and 180 themo. I could only run ~15* of timing in order to be KR free and you have a lot more mods. Are you sure it's not false, trans dipstick maybe??
john99gtp
Im not positive. I ran with some Torco at IDD in May, and it didnt kill alot of KR. I still had about the same. On the other hand, I had a local guy tune my pcm some more, and added more fuel. This made me a bit richer, but it did help the KR problem. If it is false, where the hell do I start looking for sources. I know one right off the bat is the DP/sway, but I dont feel it hitting at all. Heres a copy of my latest scan: http://www.metrocast.net/~jbarbieri/gtp/10-30-scan.xls any ideas :? :?
sl3196
You sure that sway bar aint hitting?? Torco should have got rid of some if it was real.
AWeb80
and adam, with these mods i should not have KR. I dont even have as small of a pulley as most people I was being sarcastic....in a way...lol
