Mr.ChevZ34 Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 Hey guys, The other day i was in my car drivin around and noticed that within a time span of about 15 or 20 mins my oil pressure dropped from 3/4 pressure to 1/4 pressure. Well, saturday i fired it up and revved it up a bit and smoke was coming from the cerp. belt area. I shut off my car and found oil on my plenum, belt, and over-flow tank. I haven't searched for the leak yet but i was wondering if anybody has any idea of what it may be. Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 Hopefully just a valve cover maybe? Quote
Spoon Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 Maybe a power steering leak? its just above the belt. Quote
Miko K Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 Maybe a power steering leak? its just above the belt. That's right- the power steering pressure gauge went to a 1/4... Quote
White93z34 Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 i would hardley trust the oil psi gauge, a leak will not make it do anything strange. and we all know how goofy those sending units get with age. Quote
Pabz Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Is there "skid mark" type stains all over the inside of the hood above where the serp belt is. Thats what happened when my ps cap leaked. Quote
Mr.ChevZ34 Posted November 22, 2005 Author Report Posted November 22, 2005 I went out the other day to fire it up and check for the leak. My fluid levels were fine so I started it and it smoked a little bit but then it was fine. It only did it when I revved it and it smelled like burning rubber. So what i am thinking it is is the overflow tank's hose. It hangs down by my crank and is chewed up a bit ( previously before i bought it) . I think that when I rev it, it make the hose rub against the serp. or the crank. Do you think that I am on to something or that I am an idiot cause im not sure what to think. Quote
