Navybass Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 Are both electric fans supposed to come on at the same time, or does one have a lower turn on temp than the other one. I noticed today that only one was turning on. It cooled the car just fine, but I was just wondering if they should both be running at the same time. BTW it's on a 94 GP with a 3100. Quote
LumiDriver Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 I actually have the same question for 2 cars, my 3100 Lumi, and my 1991 Eclipse. Quote
DiscoStudd Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 No, they're not supposed to both kick in at the same time. One is a primary and the other is a secondary. I believe the primary kicks on around 220*. Not exactly sure what temp the secondary kicks in at... Quote
1990lumina Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 227* according to the FAQ, The secondary also comes on if you use the A/C it will come on right away IIRC... Quote
Navybass Posted November 14, 2005 Author Report Posted November 14, 2005 Ahh, cool. Everything's working fine then. Quote
LumiDriver Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 What happens when neither of them go on, relay problem? Quote
DiscoStudd Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 I'd suspect the relay or the wiring from the PCM if all of the sudden they both don't kick on, but it's much more likely for the motor(s) to be shot. It's a common occurance on GM's for the cooling fan motors to shit out... Quote
