rshissler Posted November 18, 2005 Author Report Posted November 18, 2005 well i went and got 4 yards of fleece its like sweatshirt fleece about the same thing as t-shirt fleece. got it for 2 bucks a yard. Edit: Does it usally take alot of resin to do the fleece cuz i just did 2 sides (front and one side) and i've used alot of resin doin it and i cant really get it soaked that good... Quote
rshissler Posted November 20, 2005 Author Report Posted November 20, 2005 well i finally got it rather nice lookin on 2 sides but yea it needs work. Thanks for your help guys Quote
rshissler Posted November 22, 2005 Author Report Posted November 22, 2005 Hey i got another ? do i need to put fiberglass over top of the fleece? or just like 2 lays of resin? and it didn't dry to smooth either so it needs sanded alot Quote
slick Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 If you want to use the fiberglass matting itself, use it on the non-visible side of the fleece(the underside). The matting is a bitch to sand. Quote
webbs Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 is it possible to fiberglass over plastic? some sites i read say you can ,some say you cant at all, and some say its a huge pain. Quote
J Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 they say it won't stick, i have yet to try it, but my cousin did it on his coloum for a gauge pod and it worked. What he did was cut a few holes in the plastic so the fiberglass had something to grab onto. Quote
rshissler Posted November 27, 2005 Author Report Posted November 27, 2005 for some reason i have a feeling that im goin to have to bondo the entire thing really good cuz the box is extremly ruff even after i sanded it Quote
Garrett Powered Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 If it is a sealed box, it needs the added stiffness. Ported boxes it helps, but the bass obviously is not under pressure as much Quote

stockgp Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 fiberglass jelly sticks to plastic pretty well. i did my old center console with it. Quote
rshissler Posted November 30, 2005 Author Report Posted November 30, 2005 Well this is how it is right now http://photobucket.com/albums/v643/rshissler/Fiberglass%20project/ Quote
slick Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 Wait, did you stretch fabric over the wood?? Why the fuck would you do that????! Quote
Garrett Powered Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 He didn't know what he was doing at first. fiberglass jelly sticks to plastic pretty well. i did my old center console with it. That looks pretty kool all glossy. That stuff makes a good glaze finish on plastic. but if you fiberglass a flat piece on plastic it will peel right off. I like the skull, is that resined to the console? Quote
stockgp Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 the skull is fiberglass, yes. then the rest of the console is coated in resin jelly as well. Quote
Garrett Powered Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 this plastic factory speaker pod with a boston 4 inch mid sounds really good. but it separated on the face plate and I had to glue it back down with epoxy. then it was fine. Quote
