How thick is the upper intake on a 3100?

I was thinking of polishing the outside of my ypper intake on my 94 3100 engine. I was wondering how thick it was because I don't want to go through it.

Has anyone else ever polished their upper intake?

Know any machinists? One half hour on a verticle mill will take the ridges off in no time at all and keeping it virtually flat. Then some buffing compound and a buffer can make it look like glass! :D

Thanks! Yours looks sweet too! I'd post pics of mine, but I don't want to hijack this guy's thread.
