93 Grand Prix
I was wondering has anyone ever seen cars with a blinking third brake light? Is it possible for me to do this to my car? Can I attach it to a flasher like my turnsignals or something?
Guest Anonymous
I'm pretty sure it's possible. But I'm also pretty sure it's illegal. I think.
JPaganel
You could do it, but I am not so sure it would be legal. Cadillac used to make blinking taillights, but they had to recall them.
GnatGoSplat
It would be illegal. You could do it with a simple turn signal flasher. I think a 2-bulb flasher will work. I've seen it before, and I personally think it looks really goofy. I've seen better versions that flash quickly for 1-2 seconds and then light steady, that would be better IMO. NeverSayDie
I've seen several Hondas with that feature too. I think it's pretty annoying , especially at night when your're behind them.
Brian P
yeah, but annoying= driver behind sees it, less chance of rear ending, though I think just using an LED brake light will give enough attention as it is...
okidedrak
mine is flashy...2 flashes / second i used a circuit i found somewhere with a 555 I'd like it to flash few times than stop but i'm too lazy too redo the circuitry. It might be "goofy" for some people, but believe me everyone behind notices it, some keep looking at it at a stop the whole time. Its great for waking up the drivers behind u and keeping them alert. Like Brian said less chances of getting rear ended. I had it before on 1 flash every second or so but people kept mistaken it with a turn signal and were avoiding sitting behind me at stops if i was on the left lane I realised then that quicker the flashing the better.
