JakeMetz63
Autozone's ricer brand Spectra cone air filters vs K&N for a CAI/FWI? Does anybody used spectra? Im not crazy on the whole ricer thing, but its $25 cheaper than buying a K&N filter, do they work as well?
pwmin
they generally work about the same, but you can get a K&N recharge kit and it will be the same. as long as the filter medium is cotton, the oil is where the difference lies. digitaloutsider
I have one on my Cutlass that Sean put on. I'm not really complaining. It's loud and I guess it filters allright.
mfewtrail
I've heard those filters don't flow worth a shit, but I have seen no real info to back those claims up. Where are you buying K&N filters that are "$25 more" than the cheap ones at autozone. You can find cone filters that are plenty big enough for your needs for right at $30 shipped to your door. Here's where I usually buy my K&N filters from... http://www.ajusa.com/cgi-bin/knfilters/start?r=ajusa&ajr_skey=e8b7cfbc8d627f95105e52d3af2f4668
pwmin
they both have cotton media, i dont see how they would flow any different. the oil is what traps the particulates. yeah, you can actually find kn's for cheap if you know where to look. theyre not what they used to be: like $60 at a parts store for a drop-in panel filter. i actually have a kool-blue filter to match my engine decor.
