m0sh_man Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 Need some plug wires for my 91 GTP, can someone direct me to a good brand for a daily driver, it has xact brand on it now, and i dislike those. matthew Quote
Vegeta Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 magnecor are expensive but work great and last forever. Otherwise, get whatever is cheap. If it has a lifetime warranty, thats even better. Quote
White93z34 Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 i had a set of borg warners that i got at pep boys in my z34 for a good long while, i never had any problems with them till i sliced half them in half when i wrecked the car, only cost me $50 or so. i know the dealership around here wants $135 for ACD ones. pwmin Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 either delco or magnecor, unless you want to make your own from a universal kit. this place is the cheapest i found mc's for: http://www.apexperformance.net/cartgenie/prodInfo.asp?pid=559&cid=10 Quote
GOT2B GM Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 either delco or magnecor, unless you want to make your own from a universal kit. this place is the cheapest i found mc's for: http://www.apexperformance.net/cartgenie/prodInfo.asp?pid=559&cid=10 I just my 8.5 mm Magnecors from Apex. They are very good to deal with too. Prompt email responses and quick shipping, even to Canada. Quote
95DropTop Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 I just got my set from AutoZone for $40 tax total. The last set the mechanic got and they were over $150 and they did not last a year! I figure that I can get at least a year out of the cheap ones. Plus they have a lifetime warranty...just take em back and get a new set whenever I want. I had an AutoZone radiator in my T/A and it went after about 3 years....take it in and get a new one. No questions asked, well, except for the receipt. The car runs nice and smooth now. AutoZone has a website, you may can order from them if you don't have a store near you. They are everywhere in Eastern NC... Quote
99RegalGS Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 I bought the $32 Autozone wires for my Cutlass when I did the 96 intake swap. About a week before I traded the car to Shaun I had to replace them. There were holes begining to form in the insulation. The $90 Napa lifttime wires I got for it did feel like they were much better quality. I hope these wires last Shaun awile... Quote
Darksyde Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 Napa's Lifetime Belden wires are #1 hands down. Quote
fastbird232 Posted November 6, 2005 Report Posted November 6, 2005 I just ordered a set of some three-year warranteed wires from CarQuest for $51. Can't remember what brand they are, though, but it's better than the $103 they wanted for the only other set. My only beef with the 3.4 is the cost of parts... Quote
Darksyde Posted November 6, 2005 Report Posted November 6, 2005 That's your only beef with the 3.4????? sheesh i wish cost was my only problem. lol Quote
m0sh_man Posted November 8, 2005 Author Report Posted November 8, 2005 Autozone has two sets one is a cheap set for $45 with lifetime warranty, and they also have a set of bosch for $70 or so with lifetime warranty does anyone have any experience with either of these? matthew Quote
fastbird232 Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 Nope, but I just installed the 3-year CarQuest ones, and the engine feels like new. Complete BITCH to get those wires underneat the cam cogs, though (it was raining and we had record-high winds that day). Quote
bartonmd Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 I always just do the AC Delco ones... $35 for the 3.1L and whenever I have to take them off for something (once carbon core plug wires have a few heat cycles in them, you can't bend them around much, or the carbon breaks up and the wires are junk) I just go get new ones for free... pwmin Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 i have no beef with the X or i wouldnt have bought it. i used to hate them, but they're no problem. i dont think the parts are very expensive, certainly less than any import. edit: well, maybe some honda parts may be cheaper Quote
fastbird232 Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 About a three-year warrantee: do you get a new warrantee when you get your replacement set, or is it three years from the day you bought the first set? Quote
