Started it and it ran like crap till it the fuel got pressure built up. Now i am hearing LOUD Valve train noise from cylinders 1,3 area. Before i take of the valve cover to check this out is it possible i could have mixed something else up??

Sounds more like a knock than clicking, sounds like its comming from 2 of the valves/rods. I am pretty sure i didnt mix up the rods. Could it be the injectors or incorrect spark plug wiring. (tripple checked wiring)

Ahh, seems like i just dont want to believe its the valve train. I want to run it with the rear valve cover off. Can i start it with the engine rotated forward?

All rocker arm nuts were tight, i turned it over for a while to build up oil pressure so the hydrolic lifters would make the rockers tight, a couple were loose and this tightened them up except for 1 its still loose.

Could the lifter be clogged with crap so its not pushing the rod tight? or could it be not making contact with the lifter? **Edit It must be on the lifter cause when i turn it over its opening the valve.

How do i get these rocker arm nuts off without removing the intake manifold, do i need a small 13mm socket or what??

Should i just take it out for a spin so it can build up pressure and clear out anything in there?????????????

I am thinking of spraying carb cleaner through the pushrod when its seated in the lifter with the straw that goes on the spray nozzle to try and clean out the lifter, is this a bad idea?

If it is what else can i use?

there seems to be something wrong, no doubt, but i would not spray carb cleaner or anything else down the pushrod as i think that would contaminate/thin the oil.

from all of the things you have posted....check your spark plug wiring. 1-3-5 are the rear cylinders (going from passenger side to driver's side) and front it 2-4-6. they are rather easy to mismatch becuase the numbers cast into the lower intake are easy to mix-up considering the way the plenum routes air crossways. if that all is good there....time for a compression test!

could it be the injectors??? :bawl:

very unlikely that it is one of your injectors. i would find it hard to believe that one or more of them crapped out while you did the head gaskets. your problems sound like an ignition issue to me. it is certainly possible one or more of your injectors could be at fault, just not likely. you could always ohm test your injectors.

- double check (quadruple check? ) your spark plug wiring

- compression test

- check plugs for consistency between all six

- check oil and coolant for cross contamination

good luck!

I will recheck the spark plugs, i may have put to much dielectric grease in the wires. if that doesnt work i will get that compression test done and ohm check the wires to the injectors, they are in parallel so it should read about 4 ohms?? (1/12+1/12+1/12) Also, what is the knock that i am hearing?? Is it miss firing, no spark?

On another note:

There is wiring that goes to the rear of the engine that comes from the same harness as the injector wires, alt wires, it HAD mylar wrapping around it that came off. Where does this go, knock sensor??, only about 1/2 of the mylar came off. Should I, can I, fix it? Does your local neighborhood part store sell this?

Mylar? You mean split wire loom? Yeah, any parts store should stock that.

Those wires run to the crank sensor, speed sensor(autos), knock sensor, and some grounds. IIRC.

I checked all the spark plugs and even used different wires, All good.

Checked for spark on each wire and plug.

So i decided to dig further and took off the front valve cover, I noticed one rocker arm so loose that it didnt even push open the valve while it was running, this was one of the intake valves. I added a few washers to see if the sound would go away. Valve opened but sound was still there. So here i am thinking its the lifters, there was alot of coolant that went into the valley and i found alot of hard crud too, pobably burnt coolant and oil mix. So if i replace the lifters i hear i should also replace the cam too. That means i have to remove the engine. If thats the case i am thinking to swap it. Lets not worry with what yet.

Here is a video which you can Clearly hear the knocking. I cant pin it down with my broom stick stethescope, but i heard plenty of noise when i touched it to the rocker arm bolts near the bad lifter (or rocker arm).

VIDEO CLIP

So let me know what you think it is before i start :bash: my own head and :bawl:
