93GTP Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 I'm wondering if I can modify the clutch line to braided stainless or regular steel line? Can I remove the accumulator (or whatever that metal body is in the line close to the slave cylinder)? I remember reading somewhere before that removing it improves clutch feel and performance but if that's the case then why is it there? Every hydraulic clutch line I have seen has only had the piston assembly and reservoir, and steel line between it and the slave cylinder. Quote
5speedz34 Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Ask over at 60V6, I know Brian P removed his and put a braded line in. I don't know the full write up on it though. Quote
93GTP Posted October 31, 2005 Author Report Posted October 31, 2005 Thanks, I already have asked over there. Hopefully I hear from him. Quote
skalor Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 I did the same thing as brian89gp, so mine looks the same as pictured above. I brazed on a small piece of pipe to fittings that go into the master and slave cylinders. I believe I used 1/8 NPT threaded piping that I bought at Home Depot. Then I was able to use an adapter to get it to AN style braided lines that were designed for use as brake lines. Quote
Canada Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 I plan on doing the same thing.......get that clutch to reapply much quicker inbetween shifts. Quote
93GTP Posted November 3, 2005 Author Report Posted November 3, 2005 The question is how does the feel of the clutch pedal change when you eliminate the accumulator? I don't want a rock solid clutch pedal, but it already was VERY firm in the 92 Z donor I have. Something doesn't feel right it's so stiff. Quote
