Probably an exhaust leak, something is loose under there. Have the same type of problem with my work truck, only seems to happen when i hit a big bump or something. Quite the rest of the time.

ok, tonight someone else had to use my car, so i got to hear it loud and clear from the outside. it is the muffler on the passenger side and it sound like a fartcan. i can't figure it out. An exhaust leak would make the car louder, but it really isn't that loud. The sound is anything from smooth and silky, but the weird thing is, it doesn't do it all the time, maybe less than half the time. it kinda sounds like a cheap motorcycle.

start up the car and get underneath it and listen/feel for leaks around the muffler. maybe some of the sound deadening material got mess up somehow? clogged cats make rattling noises. also could maybe be a heat shield.

I would sure hope not. i don't have the part no. and so i couldn't fill out the warranty card. The cat is new and the heat shields are tight and i can find no leaks

i'm clueless. i really doubt the muffler's bad, but i guess its possible. i would think something engine wise, but if the other muffler is fine then i guess it rules that out. sounds like it narrows down to a muffler, but that seems odd to me. anyone else got any zany ideas?

Hmmm, Best thought....maybe a baffle in the muffler is loosening. Y'know, heats up, metal expansion, baffle starts to rattle. Give it a tap with a rubber hammer or sumpn' Rule out muffler failure. Dunno....I'd try it. See what happens.

Usually a huffing sound though, tell a tale sign of a leak!
