1990lumina Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 I was under my car the other day....and I glanced at the tranny pan to see what it said - I expected to see "4T60" punched into the pan....however I see this: "Metric Hyrda Matic A Division of GMC" I assume this is still the 4T60 tranny, or the equilvant to it?? Quote
badassoldspower Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Yeah man GM started the whole HYDRA-MATIC transmission thing thats the right tranny i just checked my old 4t60-e no worries Quote
5speedz34 Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Since yours is a 90 you still have the 4TTOT4 or whatever the fuck its called. Quote
badassoldspower Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Oh i thought that year would have used the 4t60 no E? Hmm i learned something new today! Quote
Grand Moff Joseph Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 nope, we got stuck with the shitty 440T4. Quote
1990lumina Posted October 25, 2005 Author Report Posted October 25, 2005 Woohooo...so it is basically the same thing??? Or is it weaker, less reliable, etc?? Quote
ToroToro Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 As far as I know, the only difference between the 440T4 and the 4T60 is the name. Quote
badassoldspower Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 See thats what i thought too because if i remember right, they can both use the same tranny rebuild kits. Quote
Prospeeder Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 thats what my TGP one says too Quote
badassoldspower Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Hmmm This requires further investigation Quote
ToroToro Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Uhhh why? The 440T4 became the 4T60 in 1991. That's all. Quote
badassoldspower Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Okay cus i agree, i just know a lot of people may not i am just gonna cross reference the tranny rebuild kit part numbers for the different years, thats all. Quote
ToroToro Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?mfrcode=SAG&mfrpartnumber=KS67&parttype=646&ptset=A Fitment information would lead me to believe they are the same. Quote
stockgp Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 i thought in 91 the 4t60e was used Quote
badassoldspower Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 I think thats too early for the electronic one Im not sure on that though Quote
Prospeeder Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 the 4t60-e wasnt used till like 94 Quote
ToroToro Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 The first year for the 4T60E was 91, but I'd dont think it made it's way into Ws until 93. Except maybe 3.4 cars. Quote
stockgp Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 mine is a 93, so it's 93 or earlier Quote
stockgp Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 oh i thought all 91s and newer got them Quote
badassoldspower Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Cool at least we got this one figured out Quote
stockgp Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 alldata lists the 60e as being available in 91 for all ws. it doesn't, however specify which engine it would have been coupled with. it lists the regal in 91 as being available with the 60e, also. since the regal never got the lq1, i assume there was at least a small chance the 3.1 was available with the 60e. might have been a factory freak, but it seems it's at least a possibility Quote
badassoldspower Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 There are lots of factory freaks out there. like you said, its possible. Quote
ToroToro Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Well, I think the Regal 4T60E would be behind the 3800, and 3.4 used the 4T60E in CS/GPs. As far as I know, the only 3.1s to get the 4T60E were from 93 and up. Quote
badassoldspower Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 What years did they put the 4t60e behind the 3800? Quote
