Brian P Posted September 23, 2002 Report Posted September 23, 2002 the tie rod ends? I just slammed them upwards using a hammer on the studs after I removed the bolt... Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted September 23, 2002 Report Posted September 23, 2002 I used a pitman arm puller. Cost me $6 at O'Reilly Auto Parts. Quote
Brian P Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 Did you actually need it though? I swear when I removed mine, all I had to do was *lightly* tap on the stud and it popped right out! No damage to the stud, of course! Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 I smacked my pass. tie rod end for twenty min. with a brass hammer and it wouldn't pop out. Ended up getting my dads tie rod seperator. Quote
Brian P Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 Guess I got lucky, or my car just is "loose" lol...my car had like 150k when I did it too! Quote

I never tried pounding on it as that can damage the threads, but I definitely needed it. I had to put quite a lot of strength into tightening the puller, and then BAM the thing popped out with quite a bit of force and went flying. Quote
