93 Grand Prix
Has anyone ever replaced an ECM? Is there anything i should know before attempting this task? Someone said that I should keep my Prom from the factory one. Also should I get a performance chip to go with it? What is the best chip to go with thet 3.1 V6? eclipse5302
Just make sure to install your old prom in the new ECM. That is, unless you get a performance prom...then you can use that one. Disconnect the battery, and use a 10mm socket to remove the various nuts. The ECM is located on the right side (passenger), under the RS electrical center. It's on the other side of the cover or coolant tank (which ever you have there). Once you remove that cover/tank, remove the 2 10mm nuts, and flip the ECM over to expose the prom cover. Remove those 4 screws and the cover comes off. Swap out the chips, and put everything back together. Let us know if you get stuck. You can go here for pics or more info on replacing the prom/ecm: http://www.turboste.com/chip.html Jason
