19Cutlass94
Ok I know some of you have gotten these full roller rockers from comp cams. But I cannot find these things anywhere. If someone can help me find these things, that would be great! BTW its on my motor (3100 SFI) I need to get these sooner or later because the lifter tick on my car is starting to get rather loud. So Im plannin on replacing the stock ones with the full roller rockers, not the tip roller rockers, where its just the tip. Also, what kind of better springs can I use with these? Thanks guys
Brian P
you're getting confused (I think) lifters are different than rockers, and changing your rockers will not affect the noise you hear when the engine is cold. FYI you already have roller lifters, but GM roller fulcrum rockers came out in late '95 model years. You'll need to change your heads if you want the GM ones, which even with that, will probably be a lot cheaper than aftermarket FULL roller rocker arms. dbtk2
Full roller rocker arms are going to cost you $400+ and the power difference won't even be noticable unless you can go with a higher ratio. (I'm not sure that you can) Nowhere near worth it IMO. Replace your LIFTERS with a new set and leave your rocker arms alone. Unfortunately replacing your lifters is a LOT more work than rocker arms. 19Cutlass94
yeah I duno maybe I did get a little confused on it, but heres the thing. I thought it was the rockers causing the noise cuz my dad was like yeah Ill have to replace them sooner or later. but its like a ticking noise, thats kinda loud when first started, but doesnt get too awful bad after its warmed up. Im sure you guys know what Im talking about. But what better lifters are there? and yeah the full roller rockers are a shit load of money. But are the lifters what is really causing the ticking noise that I hear? and is it bad at all?
dbtk2
First off, lets clear this up. How loud does it tick when you start it up, and does the tick go away after a little while. If the tick isn't too horrible, and it goes away in the first couple minutes, this is completely normal. I highly doubt its the rocker arms unless they came loose, and in that case you can just tighten them. If I were going to replace the lifters I'd just use new stock ones, however anything you can get from Comp/Crane cams should work well. Pabz
I remember reading a thread about the 3100 ticking problem when the engine was started but would go away after it warmed up.
