There are different types of red and yellow tops.....CCA's and such.....which is best for a stock motor.....and i'm moving the battery to the trunk.

.....and do I even need to spend the money to get a battery box if the optima is sealed and everything.....i'll make a mounting pad for it, cause I work with sheet metal and i'll get that done easy.

I had a red top in my DSM and loved it. Will probably be getting one for the TSTE and the TGP next month. They seem to hold a more "even" charge with or without heavy loads on the alternator... 8)

Oh hell, get a RED TOP. I got one with the Cavvy I traded a computer for, and it's the best thing I've ever done to any of my W's. It's never failed me... EVER. It's nice to be able to listen to music while doing a project, and to have the car start right up no matter what.

Ive got pics at home I could post, but I made an angle iron holder for the battery that goes behind the pass. side wheel well It has threaded rods that clamp down another angle iron to the top of the battery. I welded a nut to the wheel well to bolt down one side, the back bolts to an existing bolt (bumper maybe?) I welded a bolt to the wheel well for the ground, then up front I welded a bolt to the front wheel well for the ground wire to attach. Then I ran (2) 4 gauge wires to a 150 amp fuse, then up to the remote battery tower under the hood

I believe it was Aaron on here used 0 gauge IIRC??? I dunno if that is necessary for not, however if it was me, I'd use heavy guage so to do it correctly the first time.

I think alot of people that have put their batteryies in the trunk are running 4 guage wire however.

I'm running my battery to the trunk also its going to have 4 Gauge wire running to keep it charged thats all you really need IMO. Make sure you run your cables and things to the trunk for your sound system having the battery in the trunk makes it easier to replace to 8)

I'd go with 2 separate 4ga wires- one bolted to where the battery used to be and the other one-extra ground. In cold weather the length of the wire can act as a load and it make the engine hard to turn over, in some cases it could delete your radio memory. That happened to me before I added the extra ground. My $0.02.

Do you have to ground both posts like you have?....and where are both of the postitives going....do you have a system?

Sonyman did the relocation also.

I also have my battery in the trunk. I would get a battery case just to be safe. My negative is grounded on the truck. While the positive runs back the front. IIRC- Mine has 0 or 2 gauge wire.
