Kalgorn
So I installed the FFP mount this past Sunday and noticed the sound of my engine changed. It's deeper and has a more metallic sound to it now. Any ideas why? I can't imagine a motor mount doing this but the only other thing I've done is change the tranny fluid and that's obviously not it. EDIT: I changed 'exhaust note' to 'engine sound' because I'm guessing it didn't really change the exhaust note, just the way the car sounds. 94CutlassSLCoupe
Its probably exciting a natural frequency of some piece of the engine (most likely the exhaust pipes) or something else in the engine bay
19Cutlass94
yeah I noticed mine kinda did that too. Its really nothing to worry about. Im guess that maybe since the engine moves less you can just hear the natural tone of it?
manitcor
yeah its normal, the stock mounts are desgind to absorb vibration more while the poly mounts are desgined to hold the engine better, as a result the vibrations are trasmitted into the car and surrounding components. You will prob notice you can "feel" the engine more too particularly if you have some mods.
Stevo
Weld the engine to the frame and weld some rods in place of the upper mounts... big horsepower.
