GI 6 speed G6 trans

What would you pay for one with 0 miles on it? to make it work you would need the intermediate shaft clutch and mod your slave to work.

it bolts up to any V6 bell pattern

I would do the swap in a heartbeat if I had the money. I already have a 284 in mine, and after test driving a G6 and seeing those ratios for myself, I'm very intrigued. I know it would cost more that I can afford right now though.

i was going to put it in a 97+ car but i dont have the time or the backing to do it right now

So you're selling a trans that you got for free from GM. :P

I'll start the bidding at $50 and you know that I can come pick it up. Maybe I will keep the TGP after all.

Id love to have it myself.. I think it would be very sweet backing a 3.4

i dont know if i am selling it. I might be looking for some to pay to labor to have it installed in there car so i can figure out what is needed. i am seeing what kind of interst there might be

I was looking at the Fiero Forums and the Club GP forums about sliding in a F40 tranny...but the low Torque ratings on the tranny make me wonder if my TGP power plant will grenade it.

Oh and it does not just bolt up. There are considerable issues with the DM flywheel, shift linkage, clutch actuator, and rear tranny mount to make it work in any vehicle. It is slightly longer (0.250") than the Getrag 282 housing...but the tranny mount bolts will not line up without some fabrication.

Until V8Archie straps it to a N* or high torque 3800 without grenading it all over his shops driveway...I will be holding off on the F40 till they make one for a FWD V8 car.

i have had it bolted a L67 out of the car. i know exactly what you need to make it work. fly wheel use the 3800 use the G6 clutch. the slave just make aline up and use the stock master cylinder. shift linkage you should be able to use the G6 shifter and the cables.

as for the mount it has a brakcet that folds under that trans then it should close to matching up.

i am sure it will hold just fine

Well considering they are $1840 my cost (retail is close to $3000) at Pontiac...you should get a pretty penny for it!

I would love to get one, but the torque ratings make me nervous. Then again the 282 Getrag torque ratings are the same if not lower aren't they?

It will bolt to any 60*v6 from my understanding of the write-ups so far. It is a matter of the shifter, clutch actuator linkage, and mounting points. I wonder if SPEC or any of the other aftermarket clutch manufacturer is making a high force clutch and lighter non-DM flywheel?

i am sure they will be soon enough.

compare the 282 to the F40 one to one and i think it can do it

I am going to give it another month or two before I buy one and see how they handle Archie's setups...

Yeah since September time frame. He always says he will not do V6's...but he is putting together kits for all of the 60*v6's and also working on a V8 conversion with the F40 and also a kit to retro-fit for the F40 on Fiero's that already have a V8 of SBC or N* configuration.

Here is the thread at Pennocks talking about it. A bit long (7 pages at this point) but good reading none the less.

For top end highway cruising it will pull the RPMs down...not so sure about the 1st gear ratio though. Would be pretty useless.
