My engine painting project

Looks MUCH better in the daytime. I love it. Mine should turn out similar. Nice job. :D

Looks good ,,,, BUT you should have used a second contrasting color... and Steam cleaned the engine BEFORE you got started. And cleaned the intake valleys while the plenum was off the engine..

What's the difference in steam cleaning an engine and degreasing it?

I mean I have a portable steem cleaner with attachements for the house and like car interiors, but I don't see how it would really help on the engine.

Using a pressure washer with heated water helps disolve grease making it easier to remove... That's the only difference... You're still using a degreaser regardless if you use heated ater or not. Simple Green Auotmotive works wonders if you use it right.

These are some small change I would do that would make the black plenum look even better IMO.

For the motor mount one of those shiney FFP ones would look good, and shiney chrome fenderwall intake. :)

That doesn't look bad at all. I like it. I wouldn't try anything like that...I'd fuck it up so fast.

lol, C-BAD pretty much got dead-on what I want to do. I went to the dealer and got the new coolant tank ordered. Just a matter of scraping up the pennies for it. The braces are getting painted silver like my GP had. There's a red cone filter in the ricer aisle at Autozone that looks just like mine except well.. it's red. lol. I'm getting an FFP dogbone. My current one's rubber is beginning to fall apart. Not good at all. I'm not spending a lot of dough on a CAI, since well.. the entire intake is getting rebuilt for the supercharger project.

Thanks for the comments guys. It does look a lot better at daytime, huh?

Hmm... just hit up Autozone for some red engine enamel just like the black I have and attempted to spray one of the grooves (I masked it off, silly) but the red either

a) doesn't want to stick to the black enamel I already sprayed down

or

B) needs to have a couple coats sprayed because the black is so dark

I'm going to let this bit of paint dry and try a second coat tomorrow to see what happens. If it just doesn't want to stick, I'll try to get it back to black. If I have to sand the red off, so be it. I'm dissapointed though if this doesn't work. It could turn out so nice.
