birdman Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 does anybody know the stock outer diameter just before the cat and just after the cat. i think im going to just cut the cat off and put stright pipe in there, has anyone done this, how well did it work? thanks. Quote
5speedz34 Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 The downpipe is 3" and goes into a 2.25" and then stays at 2.25" IIRC. Quote
JNGTP94 Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 it does stay 2.25, when i had my 40's put on i had it replaced with 2.5 though, can i feel a difference... nope lol Quote
Kalgorn Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 I thought it was 3" downpipe, 2.5" piping back to split, 2.25" piping from split to mufflers. ?? Quote
Euro Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 im pretty sure its 2.25 all through...minus the DP of course Quote
pwmin Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 where it splits to dual, mine was 2.0" od. it was 2.25" od before the split. maybe that's why my car is so slow Quote
5speedz34 Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 where it splits to dual, mine was 2.0" od. it was 2.25" od before the split. maybe that's why my car is so slow Stock exhaust has alot of stupid kinks. Quote
slick Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 From 60*V6 website: The 3.4's got a 2.5" downpipe stock. After the cat, it was 2.25" back. Quote
birdman Posted October 19, 2005 Author Report Posted October 19, 2005 so is the downpipe 2.5 or 3. it seems like 3 is quite big for the 3.4. and does the change occur at the cat or just before or after because it the cat has 2 different size inlet/outlet im going to need a pipe that has one bigger/smaller end. Quote
slick Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 It is 2.5". The pipe going into the cat is 2.5, the pipe coming out is 2.25. Quote
birdman Posted October 20, 2005 Author Report Posted October 20, 2005 thanks, has anyone done it? does it make the exhaust sound any worse/better?? Quote
slick Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 What, having larger exhaust put on? Hell, I think most people do it. Yes, it will make it louder. Most aftermarket mufflers are gonna be louder. You can add a resonator to quiet it down though. Quote
