fergup Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 Searched to forum cannot find and I am in a bind as I am stuck at home unable to 1: access the rear plugs and 2: put the one rear plug wire back on that I was able to get off. It seems apparent to me that on the 3.4 with the single motor mount, you do not roll the engine forward like I did on my 3.1 and even my GP GTP. All I can guess at this point is that I need to remove the factory strut tower brace to give me more clearance. Please help or direct me to a thread that helps. Many Thanks Quote

Yah, to get to them remove that and the weatherstripping along the firewall, and then get a really long extension and a spark plug socket. Quote
fergup Posted October 18, 2005 Author Report Posted October 18, 2005 Good Good,, thanks. Had to get a ride to work but I now know my evening project. New NGK iridiums and Taylor 8mm wires are my first mods. Amsoil synthetic/ filters etc are next. Magnaflows and tips to follow. Quote

Yeah, the first time is a bitch after that it's easy to the plugs. Unless you have the 96 intakes and then the plenum comes off. Quote
JNGTP94 Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 yeah i need to do plugs and wires on my car, really not looking forward to those back 3... lol Quote
Kalgorn Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 I plan to replace my plugs when I swap on the intake manifold I've been painting. Will definately make some easy access. Quote
Darksyde Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 I'm dredding the day i have to do plugs. When i got my new motor it had the factory plugs in it from 1991. Of course i didn't change them when i put the motor in. The motor only has about 14000 on it right now. But still them plugs have been in there for 14 yrs. Quote
Aaron Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 Unless you have the 96 intakes and then the plenum comes off. Tony you'll soon notice that the 96 plenum makes the car overall a lot easier to work on. 7 bolts and the entire plenum, intake arm, and throttle body lifts right off. I was really impressed. I think it's actually faster than with the 91-93, you don't break the wire holders, and the only added cost is a new gasket. Quote
fergup Posted October 19, 2005 Author Report Posted October 19, 2005 ALL DONE!! Car runs smooth and awesome. Red Taylor wires look great. Will be putting up pics tomorrow Quote
JNGTP94 Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 Glad to year it!, no problems im assuming? Quote
fergup Posted October 19, 2005 Author Report Posted October 19, 2005 What a difference Iridium plugs and taylor wires make. I highly recommend to anyone thinking about it. Steep at 6.95 a plug but will never need to change again. Here are car pics http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2149961/1 Quote
digitaloutsider Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 Aaron's right. Pulling the plenum is WAY easier than fucking with a 91-95 or a 3.1/3100/3400/3800. Took me like 10 minutes to pull it off. I could probably do all the rear spark plugs in like 5 minutes. It's great! Quote

My local Chevy dealer had them IN STOCK, $6 for 2 of them, which is a very reasonable price. Quote
