92 lumina 3.1 idle probs

When the car is cold it starts and idles fine, drives fine. When it warms up it starts fine but may rev up to about 1500-2000 rpms for about 5 sec then down to normal. Also driving down the road and coasting o r slowing down it will idle surge and sometimes die. Another thing is that tapping the gas petal quickly will almost instantly kill the car. The car has no trouble starting what so ever at any time.

Did you put Stabilizer in the gas? If not you might have a clogged filter.

Swap the filter and run some seafoam or top engine cleaner.

Ya my car almost dies too when tapping the gas, it also seems to have a dead spot when taking off from a complete stop. When you find out let me know. I cleaned my throttle body, iac and relearned the iac it seemed to work for a couple days but now its back. I'm thinking maybe its a dead spot in TPS or IAC. I dunno?

i was told that its a torque converter cylinoid switch in the tranny on 3 speeds only *TH125*

Problems such as the ones you are describing could very well be the TCC. It is a sub $100 part, so if you think it may be the root of the problem, change it.

I'd at least try that whole $5 fix.. the fuel filter.

If it doesn't work, oh well.. you're out of $5 and you did some preventive maitenance.
