Darksyde
Got a 91 Z, and i'm goin through 1 "torque strut" ie. dogbone every 6-8 months. I know i drive hard, lot of light to light heavy foot'n. I'm just curious as to the length of others mount life. As well as if the FFP dogbone is worth the money. 19Cutlass94
FFP is worth every penny. Buy it, you will not be dissappointed
digitaloutsider
Are you sure your bottom mounts are good? There's no way it should go through them that quickly..
Darksyde
I just replaced the motor not that long ago. As well as a rebuilt and strengthened cradle. All the mounts are and very good condition. That is why i can't figure out why i'm killing these things so fast. I mean i just replaced it yesterday. Thats the 5th one i've done in about 2 yrs. Had the same issue before the motor change.
19Cutlass94
Maybe its because your using the strut type mounts, and not a strong solid one? Because I know not many people have the strut type mount.
Darksyde
Strut type?....It's not a "strut".....It's the regular Solid dogbone with rubber bushings and steel inserts. When i said Torque strut, that's because that's what the technical term is. I didnt mean a shock/strut style mount. 1 thing i forgot to mention almost 100% of the time its the motor side bushing that fails not the rad. side. 19Cutlass94
Maybe I read it wrong then. The rubber bushing are more than likely the problem. They dont last long, especially when your driving your car hard. Try some polyurethane bushings. Because when your driving your car hard, the engine moves alot, especially with the rubber bushings. So that just maybe be your problem. Or maybe it would be something is bent so its like a "wrong" force if you will because something is not alined right. JNGTP94
yeah but unless hes beatin the shit out of it they should not be failing that fast, they may not be the strongest things in the world but nor are they the weakest
Darksyde
beatin the shit out of.......and driving hard are 2 things in my eyes. I mean i drive it hard no doubt. I mean i do occasionally race from a dig as well as a roll, but lately its few and far between. I'm probably just gonna pick up the FFP 'bone the next time and not deal with this. Thanx guys

Garrett Powered
Did you try washers?
Darksyde
Washers? Where? between the bone and the holder? if so there's no room there.
JNGTP94
that would be a good thing to try but since the existing ones are already shot it wont do much good.. try the new ones and hope for this best
19Cutlass94
I assume there just the stock ones that you keep going through. Give the FFP ones a try, or atleast try getting a stock one and putting polyurethane bushings in.
Darksyde
Are the poly bushings for the stock 'bones available anywhere? Or is it a special order thing.?
