johnny Posted October 14, 2005 Report Posted October 14, 2005 anyone have this problem when installing an aftermarket HU? what wire did you splice into to solve this? Quote
DiscoStudd Posted October 14, 2005 Report Posted October 14, 2005 You need to buy an aftermarket module that solves both the "no switched power" and "no chime function" when you remove the stock radio. The module is made by a company called Metra and the part # is GMRC-01. It has a built-in chime module, plus has the "wiring harness" to connect to your aftermarket radio, making everything plug-n-play. You can buy them from http://www.installer.com and they normally sell for $75, but I found one for my Impala on eBay for $50. Be advised, once you remove your stock radio, you won't be able to change any of your "convenience" settings, but you will still be able to reset the Change Oil Soon warning (switch the ignition on and depress the throttle to the floor 3 times and shut off.) Make sure you have everything set where you want it before removing the radio. http://www.impalahq.com is a site that contains a wealth of info on the Millennium Impalas. Check out my "Impala Mods" page to see the cool head unit mount I bought for my Imp... Quote
