CutlassSL91 Posted October 14, 2005 Report Posted October 14, 2005 My transmission (4t-60 N/A) has been doing some weird things ever since i got the car. 1. whenever i make left turns, AND i step on the gas in the middle of the turn after i've been coasting, i hear this weird grinding/goaning growl. 2. Sometimes the car accelatated great, seems powerful (well, for a 3.1), and torquey. Other times i step on the gas and it like the power from the engine isn't making its way to the wheels and it feels like the engine and transmission are on two different levels. 3. Sometimes i get some pretty lazy shifts, like, it won't shift until it hits like 3000 RPMs at light accelatation from 3rd to fouth gear. 4. When you shift from 1st to second manually, it's like it doesn't even seem to have resistance, very sloppy felling in the lever. I had a trans service done in feb and they said it looked great, so maybe a fluid/filter change and soem lucas. It isn't as bad as it sounds, and it's probably nothing big. Any ideas? Quote
1990lumina Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 My car does what you described in number two....I dunno why either, I just thought it was when the engine warmed up more the computer reatrds it and it makes less power (I'm mostlikely wrong)...anyway...I also have number 4 when you pop it up into second from first sometimes it will run right over second and just hit drive. Anyway, doesn't sound all to serious to me. Quote
Brian P Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 the first symptom you listed is a clear indication that your fluid is low. Check the level properly and add until it's at or slightly above the MAX line. Quote
