AWeb80
What is all involved and what will i see with it?
Canada
It involves basically doing a lower intake gasket job......plus doing some work to get the EGR to work. I say swap the entire engine.
94CutlassSLCoupe
I'm still out on how much of a positive effect this actually has... GP1138's car actually ran slower in the 1/4 than mine...and mine is bone stock, where he has the intake swap done. Either way, i'd like to see solid results with a before and after on the same car
DiscoStudd
Just another tidbit to add: You're also going to have to change the heads over to the 96-up heads with roller rockers. The 94-95's stapmed rockers will not clear the larger intake runners of the 3400's intake...
SleeperRed90TGp
You can go here, It's how I did mine. http://www.netavalanche.com/tgp/viewtopic.php?t=2604 Jud

You might as well go buy a 3500 becuse that's about how much that would cost. It would be cheaper to buy aftermarket roller rockers. Proly cost as much as the roller rockers for a maching shop to measure a head to figure out what to do. I'm still out on how much of a positive effect this actually has... For the swap you have to use everything pre 99 or everything post 99. the post 99 is by far the best you can tell by the number of bolts,6, for the UIM. The runners are huge compared to pre 99 and the intake valve is bigger. Don't even mess with a pre 99. Use the roller cam setup, everything. I would strongly suggest you do. GP1138
AWeb, most likely, your heads aren't going to be notched for the roller rockers. We got lucky, mine were, though we'd already broken two sockets getting the damn heads off. I guess we did get to replace the headgaskets, though, so that's a good thing. Really, you're going to lose a little bit of low-end, and gain a little top end. It's nice and responsive if you rev it up like I do on the highway. And keep in mind, I've done no tuning, no exhaust mods, no nothing. I also haven't oiled my K&N filter in a while, I thought of that the other day, that might have contributed to my shitty 1/4 time, but I don't know. :? I also haven't done any EGR upgrading, so my SES light keeps coming on, but that doesn't hurt anything. I've driven around for about 7 months like this, and it's not doing badly at all. OH! If you actually do this, SWITCH THE LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD COOLANT FITTING. It's a BIG BRASS FITTING that is absolutely mandatory that you swap, otherwise you're gonna leak coolant like a bitch out of that fitting. And don't mangle the fitting getting it out either, like Chris did on my car. I had to use RTV to get it to stop leaking. IMO, it was worth the time and experience I gained from doing it. I give a lot of credit to Chris Dinunzio (White93Z34) and Matt (InanimateDecay) for helping me out, especially Chris, who drove from PA for a weekend to help! Definitely have a 12-pack, a free garage, and a weekend, though. And don't freak out when your car overheats like mad. Oh! And DON'T BUY YOUR NEW THERMOSTAT FROM MEIJER!!!!!!!!!
